Experience Anders Julsgaard, a talented Danish drummer and composer who, after two years based in New York, is now Copenhagen-based. His music blends the modern New York sound with inspirations from Danish vocal traditions.
Julsgaard studied drums and composition at The New School in New York on a Fulbright scholarship, where he worked with, among others, Jeremy Dutton, Kweku Sumbry, Jonathan Blake, Kendrick Scott, and Kenny Washington. He has toured extensively throughout Denmark, Lithuania, Greenland, China, and Germany, and has performed at renowned New York venues such as The Stone, Bar Bayeux, and Rockwood Music Hall, as well as Montmartre in Copenhagen. His debut album Funny Clouds was released in 2025, and he has also contributed as a sideman on numerous international projects.
For this concert, he brings his New York-based quartet consisting of young, talented musicians. The quartet performs skillfully executed, energetic, and personally distinctive music, in which spirituality and the composers' unique artistic voices come to the fore. The music is described as both free and organic, with sensitive interplay.
