Ballmann Presents interprets the album "four!" by Joe Henderson & The Wynton Kelly Trio in a live concert at Jazzcenteret. The project is an ensemble class at RAMA Aalborg led by Yannick Ballmann, where the students work with three albums each semester and perform them for a live audience. This concert is the first live session of the semester and also the first time the project is performing at CDJ.
The album documents Joe Henderson's concert with the Left Bank Jazz Society in Baltimore on April 21, 1968, with Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb, and includes "Four" and "On Green Dolphin Street". Joe Henderson was a major American tenor saxophonist within hard bop and post-bop, known for his strong improvisational voice. On stage this evening are Kristers Dreimanis - trumpet, Kristian Dahl Johansen - guitar, Nicolaj Aamand Holm - piano, Mathias Fagerberg - bass, and Christian Mathias Laursen - drums.
