Danske Slægtsforskere Aalborg invites you to celebrate its 50-year anniversary with a full program featuring welcome remarks, guest speakers, and lectures. The morning begins at Aalborg City Archive (Arkivstræde 1) from 10:00 with a formal welcome from librarian Karina Øgendahl, Aalborg City Archive, and board chair Jane JennaMary Larsen. From 10:10 to 11:00, several speakers will give brief presentations, followed by a light lunch and time to meet fellow participants.
The afternoon program takes place at the Citizens' House lecture hall (Rendsburggade 2). From 12:15–13:00, Professor Poul Duedahl from Aalborg University presents the lecture "The Art of Unearthing. On the Quest for Good History," exploring the craft of discovering and telling compelling stories. Following a short break, Museum Inspector Thor Bæch Pedersen from North Jutland Museums presents from 13:15–14:00 the "Stumbling Stones" project, which documents and commemorates the deportations of Danish Jews during World War II.
About Danske Slægtsforskere Aalborg:
Founded in 1976, the association is one of Denmark's oldest genealogical societies. With 380 members today, the organization offers historical lectures, guided city walks, excursions to national and local archives, and workshops at the City Archive, where members exchange experiences and receive assistance with genealogical research projects.
