We make decisions daily – some good, others less fortunate – based on available knowledge and experience. The question of sound judgement has engaged philosophers and theorists from Aristotle to modern times.
Henrik Stampe Lund, M.A. and Ph.D. in Literary Studies and Senior Consultant at the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen, explores how we develop and apply good judgement. The lecture traces the theory of judgement from ancient philosophy to Hans-Georg Gadamer, and illustrates its practical significance in politics and law through concrete examples. Literary examples and everyday situations demonstrate how the meeting of reason and emotion forms the foundation for wise decisions and excellent leadership.
