Fallen Flags brings together four musicians from the Nordic jazz scene in a truly unique collaboration. The ensemble blends alternative music, experimental jazz, and free improvisation – an ambitious artistic expression from musicians who each push the boundaries of their craft.
The project begins with an intensive three-day residency at KORMA in Aalborg, where the musicians develop their new collective sound. Two concerts then follow – one in Aarhus and one in Aalborg – where everything is improvised on the spot. Both performances promise to be completely unique experiences that will never happen the same way again.
The musicians behind the project:
- Rasa Vastakaite (LT, drums) – Lithuanian drummer, producer, and composer. Works across avant-garde jazz, improvised music, and pop.
- Jakob Bakkevoll (NO, bass & electronics) – Bergen-based musician and organizer. Explores experimental jazz and electronic music; has toured across Europe and works in groups such as Travbahn and Paper Steps.
- Martin Vollertsen (DK, piano) – Danish jazz composer. His music is rooted in honesty and artistic meaning, with compositions that function as collections of musical impressions.
- Erik Lunde (DK, trumpet) – Aalborg-based trumpeter and composer. Winner of the JazzDanmark Award 2021, known for his distinctive blend of jazz improvisation and contemporary music expression.
