Hilal Kaya performs at 1000Fryd on Friday 13/11. The Danish-Turkish vocalist works at the intersection of Anatolian song tradition, psych-folk, ethno jazz and roots, and her music combines a modern expression with both strength and vulnerability. She has previously performed at SPOT Festival, Copenhagen JazzFestival, Vinterjazz, Resonator Festival and MIX Festival in Istanbul.
After her collaboration with Kalaha, Hilal Kaya formed her own project and is releasing her debut album Sümbül this summer. Together with Orhan Özgür Turan, she has built an ensemble where Turkey and Herning meet in improvisation and contemporary songwriting.
