Three researchers from Aarhus University explore coffee from multiple angles – from plant biology to global sustainability and health. Botanist Anders Barfod presents the coffee plant's botany and biodiversity, while nature economist Aske Skovmand Bosselmann explains how billions of cups are produced annually and the climate challenges facing future coffee production. Diabetes and nutrition researcher Kjeld Hermansen addresses common claims about coffee's health effects and reviews research on coffee and mortality, as well as the risk of major diseases.
This is an updated version of a lecture from spring 2023 and is offered as a livestream from the university in collaboration with local hosts, supported by the Carlsberg Foundation.
