Explore Aalborg's fascinating medieval history on a guided city walk that takes you through monastic life from the time monks and nuns first arrived in the city. You will visit three impressive monastic orders, each with its own story and significance for the development of the town.
The walk leads you from Vor Frue Kloster and Gråbrødreklosteret along Østerå across Gammeltorv to Aalborg Helligåndskloster – the present-day Aalborg Kloster, which is considered one of the best-preserved Holy Ghost order cloisters north of the Alps. Along the way, you gain special access inside Helligåndsklosteret.
With the city's streets as your backdrop and some imagination, you will come to understand how daily life unfolded behind the monastery's thick walls – both the brilliant and less glamorous sides of medieval monastic life.
