Denmark's hardcore scene is experiencing a revival. While older musicians present post-hardcore with emo lyrics over harmonic melodies, a new generation is ready to challenge this trend. Three Danish bands – Glasskår, Brandsår, and Rotten Rectal Fluid – have joined forces to deliver raw, unpolished heavy music at 1000Fryd in Aalborg in November.
Glasskår from Randers and Grenå are known for lightning-fast playing style, heavy breakdowns, and a fusion of punk rock and thrash metal. Their aggressive energy and unpredictable shows have made a name for themselves in the scene. Brandsår, a psycho freak punk band from Horsens, delivers chaotic music that exudes anger and euphoria in equal measure – it's all about overwhelming intensity. Rotten Rectal Fluid presents goregrind, slam, and hardcore with a distinctly Jutlandic attitude, where chainsaws and trash cans become musical instruments.
The evening concludes with Belgian Lintworm, who with their album "Everything Was Still Covered In Glitter" manifest cheerful violence and colourful darkness through grindcore, powerviolence, and noise. Their sound is deliberately excessive, chaotic, and uninterested in subtlety – extreme heavy music in its most uncompromising form.
