Kunsten houses an exceptional collection of works by Vilhelm Lundstrøm, one of Danish modernism's most significant artists. Throughout the spring, the museum presents a comprehensive overview of his artistic journey directly from its own collection.
The exhibition spans from his bold early cubist collages and provocative packing case assemblies to his later strict purist arrangements, the monumental blue period, and finally the lighter, colour-saturated compositions. Vilhelm Lundstrøm (1893–1950) was known for his relentless pursuit of renewal and his ability to forge entirely his own paths, though these were often surprising. From beginning to end, his artistic signature is distinctly recognisable across all his shifts between periods and techniques.
