WASH bids farewell with a special concert marking the end of the jazz band's 24-year history. The occasion is Kai Broberg's severe arthritis, which sadly forces the 88-year-old musician to set down his clarinet.
Kai Broberg is a jazz legend with deep roots in the North Jutland music scene. Since the 1950s, he has been a central figure in countless orchestras and bands, and in 1999 his contribution was recognized with the Jambassadør Award. Together with Esben Kjær, he has been an important part of WASH's distinctive sound since 2001 — an orchestration built on clarinet, saxophone, violin and vocals.
This concert brings together the musicians behind years of work: Kai Broberg (clarinet, saxophone, vocals), Esben Kjær (violin, vocals), Jørgen Schou (piano), Erik Johansen (bass) and Niels Riis (drums). It will be a festive and moving evening to celebrate a remarkable career and a unique band's musical legacy.
