The story follows a family centered around Peter, who struggles with alcohol addiction. After a drinking-related accident, he is forced to choose between his family and alcohol. He seeks treatment and returns home improved, but leaves deep emotional scars. At the center is his daughter Sofia, who takes on the responsibility of holding the family together while facing her own personal crisis.
Drawing on partially autobiographical experience, Rosendahl highlights codependency — an often-overlooked aspect of addiction research. The film addresses both the physical and mental consequences of alcoholism for the entire family and emphasizes the need for support and treatment services for relatives.
