Want to learn 3D printing, laser cutting, digital embroidery, and textile printing, but unsure where to start? This five-week programme is your perfect introduction to the makerspace world.
Every Wednesday you'll explore new machines, software, and techniques – and get hands-on experience with each. There are no prerequisites; you'll learn everything from the ground up. Throughout the course you'll work with vinyl cutting, 3D printing, laser cutting, digital embroidery, and textile printing, and create small projects to take home.
Week-by-week programme
- Week 1: Introduction to Makerspace, safety, and workflows. Design your own sticker or name sign with the vinyl cutter.
- Week 2: 3D design in Tinkercad and Bambu 3D printer. Create your own key ring.
- Week 3: Vector graphics in Inkscape and LightBurn plus laser cutting. Your project could be a key ring, magnet, or name sign.
- Week 4: Textile design using Inkscape and Ink/Stitch. Use the Brother embroidery machine to make a patch or name badge.
- Week 5: Vinyl cutting and heat press on textiles. Design and create a pouch or T-shirt.
After five weeks, you'll be confident with Makerspace, safety protocols, and workflows – and ready to work independently with your own ideas during regular opening hours.
