Aalborg Guitar Festival and Competitions invites composers from all ages and nationalities to submit original compositions for the solo classical guitar. The competition aims to promote new works and expand the classical guitar repertoire, creating opportunities for composers and guitarists to connect with audiences worldwide.
Competition Guidelines
- Compositions must be written for six-stringed classical guitar (alternative tunings accepted)
- Fixed media and live electronics are not permitted
- Maximum duration: 8 minutes
- Works must be previously unpublished
- Composers may submit multiple entries
Submission Details
Application deadline is October 1st 2026 by 11:59 pm. The entry fee is €50 (350 kr) per composition, plus a Billetto ticket fee of 3,5 €/25 kr. Submissions must be made online via Billetto.dk with payment documentation and materials sent to [email protected].
Required submission materials include a pdf payment receipt, music notation files (Finale, Sibelius, MuseScore, Dorico, or MusicXML format), and an mp3 recording of the work. All compositions will be anonymized before jury evaluation.
Jury and Prizes
The jury is chaired by Gerald Garcia (Great Britain) with members Camilo Giraldo Angel (Colombia) and Jesper Sivebæk (Denmark). Prize-winning compositions will be published by Acoustic Music Books.
- 1st prize: €500 and full publication (paper and digital)
- 2nd prize: €300 and print-on-demand publication
- 3rd prize: €200 and print-on-demand publication
Winners will be announced at the Award Concert on November 21st 2026 at 20:00. Application fees are non-refundable, and the organizers' decisions are final.
